Thoughts, Beliefs, and Actions . . . An Exercise to Interrupt The Pattern

Take one entire day to actually listen to yourself and what you say to yourself on a daily basis. You will be surprised to find how negative you can be with yourself. Designate a day to take a pen and paper with you and write down all the thoughts that just pop into your mind about yourself. This is where you begin to recognize how you perpetuate your pattern, with your own self-talk. At the end of the day, look at all the phrases you wrote, label them positive or negative and understand that the negative has to go.

When negative phrases come into your mind, as you continue down this road of recognizing your own self-talk, try to identify the source of such phrases. Who, in your past, has told you that you were stupid, for example. Identify the phrase with the person or persons who told you this, then release the phrase, affirm the opposite and release and forgive, with love, the person who you identify with the negative phrase. This is the beginning of dismantling our programming. But how do we take this further?

How do we revise or change our programing? How do we get out of the pattern of thought we have created in our lives that no longer serve us? The answer: Positive, Consciously Causal Affirmations which support your new way of being. Phrases like, “In the past I would______ in this situation, but now I _____, are very helpful. Telling yourself that pattern is tucked away in the past allows you to move forward into your new way of being.

Affirmations such as, “I am responsible for everything that happens in my life,” said constantly and repeated until it enters the unconscious mind, becomes part of your new programing. This is the way to change your programing and get out of the pattern. To drive it home, it is most beneficial to write your phrases in your journal. Be as detailed as possible with them and revise them often. Repeat your phrases constantly. When you do, your unconscious mind will eventually accept them. Once they become a part of your subconscious mind, they then have the power to become potent new pieces of information. Ones that will profoundly affect the way you feel and perform day-to-day activities. Soon your entire life will change. You must remember to recite your phrases with great intention, clarity and feeling, as your subconscious mind understands emotion more than thought.

If you commit to constantly holding a feeling-thought in your mind of what you wish to become, you will begin to act in ways that bring that feeling to you; the universe brings to you that which you believe. The idea is to turn your new beliefs into knowings. Beliefs are surface understandings; knowings are accepted beliefs which come into and become a part of your unconscious mind.
